Don’t worry, Kevin; it’s all under control. It’s all about immigration, see? Once we deport all our construction workers, it will be a cinch to build all the housing units we need.

The problem with corporations owning homes isn’t a hypothetical situation - it’s a very clear issue that is happening right now to the thousands of people who are living in homes owned by corporate landlords. Across the board these people’s experiences are bad. High rents, horrible service, and homes that aren’t being updated or renovated or repaired in a timely manner. Corporate landlords take all the worst parts of being shitty landlords and then make it worse by being centralized, inhuman, profit driven, and generally inept. Imagine having to deal with a robot menu anytime something in your home doesn’t work!

There have been multiple investigative stories published about this, you can’t ignore the real life harm these corporations are actually currently doing and then claim it’s some sort of panacea for the housing crisis.
