Below are updates on new home construction and some additional thoughts on this months CPI numbers.

In general, chatter seemed somewhat positive since they came down from last month’s hot numbers.

I’m a little relieved/surprised that the statistics apparently are clean, given Trumps’ previous habits of undermining faith in federal statistics. I haven’t seen stories of attempted mass layoffs at the BLS or BEA or of attempts to tinker with the process, but there is so much going on, it could have been lost in the broader nonsense.

I’m a bit more pessimistic than the average pundit, I think, about this month’s inflation numbers.
